[Solved] Paro daytime textures problem
[Solved] Paro daytime textures problem
Hi, I've recently bought the Paro scenery (what a wonderful, magnificent release!) and I've installed it. But FSX shuts down everytime I try to start a daytime flight. I've refreshed and reloaded que scenery files but the problem is still alive!
I need a solution! I need to fly to this airport! Please, help me!
Quique.

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Thanks for your nice feedback. To make sure everything is installed fine please use the uninstaller (you can access it either via your Windows Control Panel or via the Windows Start Menu (FSDG subfolder) to uninstall Paro, then restart your PC and install Paro again. Make sure you're logged onto your PC as admin or have admin rights before you start the installation.
If the problem still exists please disable all other addons in the scenery library to see if there's any incompatibility.
Please report back, I'm sure we'll sort this to make you use the scenery without any issues.

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Well, Thorsten, I've done everything you said and... nothing, still the same thing!
What now?
For information, I've bought your add-on via SimMarket.

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Did you also install the traffic pack from our website? If so please disable it for testing (remove the traffic bgl file).
When exactly does FSX crash? When FSX loads the scenery you see the black load screen with the load percentage. At which point (roughly) occurs the crash?
Did you try different times of day?

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
No, I didn't install that pack, I just downloaded and installed the configurator. But I did it after the problem begun, so that's not the reason for the malfunction. FSX crashes after I select any time of the daytime, and before the black screen with the load progress appears. No problems with dawn, dusk or night time.

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
If you disable Paro in the scenery library everything is fine? So it's definitely related to the Paro scenery?
Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Exactly! I did this yesterday and I could take off and fly in VQPR with no problems. Then I re-activated the scenery and... crush down again!!! So, yes, it's definitely related to the Paro scenery.

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
I have to ask you to do some test then, this seems to be a more tricky issue.
Please create a backup folder in your FSDG-Paro/scenery folder. Then, first of all, since it only crashes at daytime, please move the following bgl files into that folder and see if everything runs fine:
- VQPR_Ground_Lights_Tweaked.BGL
- VQPR_Ground_Shadows_Tweaked.BGL
If the crashes still occur please move these files into the backup folder:
- VQPR_Ground_V1.bgl
- FSDG_Windsock_V2_A.bgl
- FSDG_Windsock_V2_B.bgl
If the crashes still occur please move these files into the backup folder:
- VQPR_Main.BGL
- Paro_Agn-LIB.BGL
- Paro_Mesh_V1.bgl
- Paro_Objects-LIB.BGL
- Paro_Veg-LIB.BGL
- VQPR_Flags.BGL
- VQPR_Grass.BGL
If the crashes still occur we have to use another strategy. In that case we use the 50/50 logic to find the culprit:
- Move all files back into the main scenery folder (should be 26 bgl files if the traffic pack is not installed)
- Move 13 files into the backup folder (doesn't matter which, but I'd use the top 13 in alphabetic order to make things easier)
-> If FSX crashes move those 13 back into the main folder and the other 13 into the backup folder
- In one of those cases the scenery should load fine (although it will look very weird of course)
- If you know in which 'pack' the culprit is split this batch of files into 6+7 and move one and then the other part into the backup folder
- Repeat until you can narrow down the potential conflicting files to 6, 3, 2, 1
Please report back. Thanks for your assistance in helping us finding the reason for those crashes!

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Thorsten, I've followed your instructions and this is what happened:
- I backed up the first two files and started FSX: still the crash.
- I backed up the next three and started FSX: no crash!!!
Then, I've replaced the first two files and no crash either. Then I've replaced the file VQPR_Ground_V1.bgl and no crash either. Finally, I've replaced the last two and the crash happened again.
Son, the problem seems to come from these two files:
FSDG_Windsock_V2_A.bgl
FSDG_Windsock_V2_B.bgl
What's next?

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Glad it works. We didn't have that bug report yet so I guess those files only affect FSX installations under certain (and rare) circumstances, but as a matter of fact we're just about to release the new Paro version (V1.1) which will include those new windsock files. You'll be able to download the newest version in your store account next week.
Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Sounds great, Thorsten, I'll be ready!
Guys, the approach to rwy15 is spec-ta-cu-lar!!!

Re: Paro daytime textures problem
To be fair we didn't invent that approach , we just built a scenery so you can experience it the way you would in a real aircraft. It's as demanding as it is in reality and you're likely to fail (just like almost every pilot would in real life), that's why we will also include a tutorial mission in V1.1 that takes you through the approach and will certainly be a big help for successful landings at Paro.
Re: Paro daytime textures problem
Hi.
Had the same problem but all fixed with the two new windsock files.
Super scenery,thank you.
Cheers Chris
