Thessaloniki X V2 FSX - ILS RWY 16 Red PAPI Lights Always

Post by Christopher Barbas »

Hi all

I have installed the latest version, downloaded from my AEROSOFT account, of the airport and made my 1st flight today(with the latest version 2 again).

I was flying with the latest AEROSOFT AIRBUS version and I have observed at the ILS RWY 16 that all PAPI lights were red all the time. The aircraft was full established, glideslope/localizer was all the time centered.

I am running FSXA but a friend off mine with P3D v2,5 has exactly the same problem.

Any thoughts, thanks.

Hi Chris,

that's strange. Have you un-installed AS-Thessaloniki v1 before installing v2?

I dont have the AS airbus but using some defaullt aircraft, please check the attached shots below showing the PAPI/Altitude relationship on P3Dv2.5
Do you see anything different than this?

Hi,

yes a 100% clean install, I'll do the tests and I'll report back.

OK,

I am really speechless, done the test at FSX with default Cessna and repeat them with AEROSOFT AIRBUS. The result was exactly the same as yours with both aircraft, wtf!

Is something else probably but what! I'll talk to my friend to do the same at P3D v2,5.

Thanks

Emil,

just to be clear enough. The PAPI lights was red during the entire ILS procedure, that is what I meant, from full established to touch down.
Its like the PAPI angle degrees were wrong by taking distance from the airport but also near because was always red as I said.

One more thing is that I hadn't this problem with the previous version.

From this test it would appear that the PAPI angles are correct, but i m thinking it might have to do with the 'trip' from arrival, compared to just starting up at LGTS and slewing.

I will try a full ILS approach to check this again. Version 2 uses the same PAPI as v1.

OK it's fixed; let me know if not.

How to install:

1. Run FSDG Scenery Configurator and make sure the 'Activate RW10/28 Operations' is ticked. If not, please tick to activate it.

2. Then, extract the files contained in the attached zip and drop both files into:
"FSXInstallation Folder\FSDG\FSDG-Thessaloniki\FSDG-Thessaloniki_1\scenery"

3. Replace both files when asked.

**file removed-see below**

Great

2 questions Emil,

1-Please remind me whats this doing 'Activate RW10/28 Operations', I assume is only for AI traffic, correct?
2-After placing the new AFCAD by your instructions and loading FSX, if I go back to the "off" AFCAD will be OK right, after closing again FSX off course?

3-One thing more, those updated AFCAD can be placed at P3D v2,5 too, correct?

As I said a friend off mine with P3D v2,5 has the same problem, actually he has discovered it at 1st place, It was long time ago that I have done a flight to my home base airport ((!!!) almost a year) and I have done one after he told me to confirm the PAPI lights problem.

I'll test it later and I'll report back.

Thanks

Activated RW10/28 for all traffic (AI and own use)

not sure what you mean by this, why go back to the off AFCAD?

3-One thing more, those updated AFCAD can be placed at P3D v2,5 too, correct?

yes that's correct.

2- Just because I dont use AI traffic at all but its not import either way.

So, I have tested the new AFCADs but the result was the same, no change all.

I have then try some things but without success. Finally I have change the PAPI Pitch value to "3" and it worked.

The new .zip file I sent contained AFCAD files with a changed 3.0 degree slope on the reciprocal end of RWY16/34 so it should have the same result with yours.
anyhow, if you got it working it's fine.
