I think the area around the old seaplane terminal will be removed and filled with sand, but they can't build anything there, obviously. I expect the strip north of the new fire station to be extended in the future, though, to allow more buildings there.
The existing terminal will be in use for several years as far as I know, but will eventually be taken down as well.

With the current speed of development, it will not be possible for us to make a scenery before spring 2022.

Hey Guys, I'm Back again after an period of Absence & brought more news regarding the airport.

Since COVID-19 was gone from the Maldives by 13th March 2022, many things happened in the Velana International Airport, Maldives. The new Runway, currently acting as an temporary taxiway since January 2022, will become operational by 6th October 2022 with the old runway to become an permanent taxiway. ILS lights were installed at both ends of the new runway and the ILS has been aligned into the new runway. The old three TMA (Trans Maldivian Airways) seaplane terminals were closed and moved to the new Seaplane terminal at that time of September 2022. The new terminal, currently under construction, is expected to be open by 2023 or 2024. An new VIP/CIP Terminal was opened a few months ago. The western ramp, aka the main ramp, was upgraded to have gates A1 to A15. Fuel hydrants are currently being implemented, removing the need of fuel trucks, to bring in underground refueling to the airport. The new seaplane terminal will also be opened on 6th October 2022.

Okay dont know why you are reposting your message as I wanted to know what the status of the scenery development is and not of the airprot. Last update from the developer was over a year ago.

As you can see from the posts above, the airport is still heavily under construction. Expect our VRMM scenery in 2023.

I don't think we will do HECA. Too complex for a LITE airport, and probably not profitable as a "full" addon.

I reckon that HECA would receive a decent appetite, given that since the pandemic & it has been the busiest airport in Africa with the biggest number of destinations with 110+.

Needless to say that scenic pyramids approach & recently opened terminal 2, while it hasn't had a decent scenery developed.

Of course I understand that the profitability is a pillar when selecting a scenery, however I believe that Cairo would be a better seller than HESH, HEGN & HEMA, justified by its vast demand in the market.
