Seychelles v1.4 issues

Post by sibbe83 » Fri Jun 23, 2023 1:39 pm

First of all I have to say this 1.4 update was really welcome and I finally got rid of all the white concrete bricks at all the airstrips as well as having many issues fixed. However, there are still plenty of issues with this scenery so I decided to make a new thread for this:

- desroches still has a pretty nasty slope in both ends of the airstrip
- desroches is missing a parking area with a shelter
- remire also has a pretty nasty slope in both ends of the airstrip
- only two parking spots at Praslin (would be nice to have a helipad there)
- custom runway texture for Praslin that existed in the FSX/P3D version is missing
- most buildings are of a type not found in the seychelles
- various issues with huge open spots with no buildings or trees
- white haze layer still present at multiple islands
- still many issues with coastlines (water and beaches creeping up hills, flooded beaches/coastlines etc.)
- many missing objects compared to the old FSX/P3D version (which is more detailed in many occasions). E.g. plane wreckage at the end of the airstrip at Marie-Louise is missing in the MSFS version
- can't find Poivre. What's the ICAO code?
- many flooded islands and rough coastlines

Screenshots:
haze layer.png
Haze layer still there for multiple islands.
misplaced windsock.png
This windsock looks a bit misplaced in the middle of the airstrip?
missing plane wreckage.png
Plane wreckage missing at FSMA (as in FSX/P3D version)
remire nasty slope.png
Still nasty slope at Remire island in both ends.
rough edges.png
Many islands have very rough edges. Look at the beach. Looks like it's been cut out of something. Needs to be blended properly.
ugly palm trees.png
And please, get rid of these ugly looking palm trees from FSX. There are much better alternatives in MSFS.
unknown island - floating building.png
Can't remember which island, but this building is floating.
unprecise water lines.png
If you look closely at this picture you will see the water does not stretch up to the beach.

Part 2:
denis island people on the airstrip.png
Denis island. People occupying the airstrip.

Picture speaks for itself.
fsia no water lack of flattening.png
Outside FSIA. Lack of flattening and missing water (green spot).
fsia water artifact.png
A huge water artifact have appeared outside Mahe.
fsma rough edges beach.png
Look at the rough edges of the beach. The aerial covering the island should be blended, not hard cut.
fspp overgrown.png
FSPP is overgrown with grass all around the airport and terminal buildings.
issue fregate 1.png
Fregate has some flattening issues after the update.
issue fregate 2.png
Fregate from another angle.

Last part:

Water artifact outside FSIA
coastline issue.png
One example of the issues with the coastline at various islands.
flooded coastline.png
Flooded islands which can be spotted regularly. Also has some weird black spots that look like shadows in the water. Never seen in any other scenery addons.

flooded islands 3.png
Example of flooded islands.

Many of the islands also turn completely white in the distance, or partially white with missing textures. Was this scenery/update ever beta tested? It's amazing that so many issues can slip through the cracks in a 30EUR scenery.

I really should start working as a beta tester :D

Also, I accidentally discovered that the houses/villas at Fregate Island are facing rearwards...

We currently have no plans to further update the scenery.

Okay, so you release a broken update rendering the airstrip at Fregate unusable for landing or take-off along with other major issues that were not present in the previous version and that's the end of it? Sorry, but is this a bad joke? It's a 30 USD scenery that is still being sold.

We need a hotfix to at least fix the issues introduced by the 1.4 update. Also, could you please add a version WITHOUT custom aerials like in the xbox version? Except for the reefs (those are needed). Or tell me how I can manually remove them. I have tried on my own, but it gives me white islands. I'm using MSFS Map Enhancement tool to inject the latest Bing maps which are of far greater quality for most islands.

Here are the major issues after the update:

- fix airstrip at Fregate
- remove people in the middle of the airstrip at Denis island
- fix the issue introduced after the 1.4 update where the default scenery is stretching far beyond the custom aerials at Denis Island in particular
- water issue outside of FSIA
- remaining white haze layer covering a couple of islands
- add icao code to Poivre so the runway there can be selected for takeoff/landing

Several of the mentioned things will be addressed in the upcoming v1.5 update. There will also be the (missing) NDB and VORs, as well as several new helipads.

Very good! At least we need major issues fixed. Is there a way to remove the underlying aerials covering the islands and airports so I can use MSFS Map Enhancement Tool with the latest Bing maps aerials? It has far better quality. It's day and night.

That is not possible. There is no complete ortho image set at the moment for this area that does not contain heavy cloud coverage, that's why we created our own cloud-free aerial imagery set back when we created the scenery.

Yes, but it is now. If you check the latest Bing maps it covers all the islands in pretty good quality. There are some minor issues at Mahe, La Digue and Praslin but they can be mitigated for the most part. Satellites.pro has even better aerials covering the entire Seychelles in superior quality. Even using the latest bing maps (using MSFS Map Enhancement tool) is a major improvement in terms of quality over the custom aerials.

Is there a way to deactivate the custom aerials that comes with the scenery? I want to use the MSFS Map Enhancement tool for aerials.

You could remove the cgl file, but I don't think the result would look better without them.
