Landmarks of Germany - Baden-Württemberg - FS2020

Landmarks of Germany - Baden-Württemberg - FS2020
Just bought this addon but noticed there's a clash with the Stuttgart TV towers. Both the Asobo(msfs) and the FSDG objects are showing, see attached. Is there a work around or fix to remove either the FSDG or Asobo towers. Also, the FSDG tower is much larger than the default Asobo. Not sure which one is correct.

Those towers are not part of the default MSFS scenery. I guess you use another addon that includes these objects?
The scale of the tower is wrong indeed, it will be fixed in the v1.1 update later tonight.

That'll be great. I removed everything in the 'Community' folder and the two TV towers were still there- so I assumed they were default Asobo objects. I need to find out what's producing them. BTW the rendition of the railway viaduct at Bietigheim-Bissingen is amazing. Brings back memories of the Pferdemarkt.

Thanks. :)

I just checked the scenery again and cannot find collisions with similar addons like we love vfr. We created exclusions for all major objects we placed (and the minor ones are most probably not included in any other addon). I would assume these towers are from an EDDS addon scenery?

Thanks for the tip. I do have EDDS addon scenery so I'll see if that's causing the problem. Most likely.
Thanks again.

Thanks for that great addon That was missing very much.
I see also a double Hornisgrinde tower (I don't know from where the second tower is) and a double Freiburg Europa Park Arena (that one is from the great EDTF freeware scenery of Akaflieg Freiburg eV). Maybe you can make excludes for these objects (if that works at all).
By the way the Fremersberg Tower near Baden-Baden seems a bit too small and the Burg Teck is also nearly not visible. Maybe you can make them a bit bigger.
A request for the next landmark sceneries: could you please use a real map (with cities and roads) for showing the placement of the landmarks. It's nearly impossible to discover the landmarks with that "outline map" you use for Baden-Württemberg.

Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate that. :)

All models are true to scale. Fremersberg Fernmeldeturm is 86m high, so it's a rather small telecommunication tower.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple to exclude something in MSFS (unlike FSX&P3D), expecially if a local scenery like an airport "overwrites" our landmarks scenery. Our addon already includes exclude calls, which work nice for addons like 'we love vfr' but seem not to have any effect on local airport sceneries.

The v1.1 update we are about to upload to our servers will add POI markers for the most important landmarks. As for towers and other items, it's part of the VFR experience to look for them. ;-)
Towers, antennas and other obstructions are pointed out in VFR charts. You can use these to find them.

Thorsten,
yes, the landmarks for example Fremersberg or Burg Teck are true to scale, but I'm sure that the surrounding trees are much too high, so one cannot see these buildings from far away. I life near the tower of Fremersberg and I know the Burg Teck from seeing it from the Autobahn A8, but in MSFS they are hidden behind those big trees, so they are not visible from far distance like in true life. So I think one must help to make them more visible. Either by making them bigger or by cutting the surrounding trees.

Burg Teck sits quite prominently on that mountain ridge. Trees might be a bit higher in MSFS compared to reality. Around the Fremersberg Turm they are even smaller than in real life:
https://www.senderfotos.de/wp-content/g ... erg_01.jpg
The photo is from 2018, the trees almost reached the lowest platform. In MSFS, they're actually more than 5 meters smaller.

I think we got it quite well. ;-)

First off all nice Addon - thank you:)
I do also see the Stuttgart television tower twice.
I own the Just Sim EDDS Airport Scenery. They also modified the tower in their scenery.
Is there any possibility to avoid the two towers?

Why do they include a tower that's 5 miles away in an airport scenery? :-/

If I remember right also Aerosoft did include the 2 towers in their EDDS scenery in P3D and FSX. So that's not unusual. I think the problem at the moment is that the MSFS SDK does not include the correct tools to exclude single objects from other sceneries.
By the way, Horst you said that you exclude objects from 'we love vfr'. But the 2 towers near EDDS and Hornisgrinde from 'we love vfr' are still visible.
And last question: in my download page is written that I have only 4 downloads for free. So how does this work with an addon which will be updated sometimes like the Landmarks addon? For sure I will not beg you to reset my counter. Normaly the counter must be reseted automatically by every update!

If you run out of downloads, just send us an email. That setting prevents illegal mass downloads.

We placed exclude rectangles for almost all our objects (except some chimneys). Problem is, if another developer doen't place his objects carefully, they might be at the wrong position -> outside our exclude rectangles.
The addon you named used OSM data to place their models. That's often not reliable when it comes to the exact position of an object.

No, but a chart with all objects is included in the download.
I'm pretty sure you won't miss a major VFR landmark - and if you do, we'll most probably add it for you. ;-)

We're currently trying to find a solution for overlapping objects from other sceneries. Currently, MSFS does not allow to exclude certain GUIDs or object names, or making sure your scenery is sorted above another in the scenery layers. We're sure that will be something that will be added soon in MSFS.
For the time being, we're looking for other solutions. Currently we don't have any.

Flat Landmarks

Post by RegentFalke » Tue Jan 25, 2022 2:02 pm

just bought it thru Aerosoft, great value & joy for me (IRL used to fly VFR from EDSP and EDNN in central BaWü).

However, I found out that at least 4 of your gold star "other landmarks" are flat, i.e. just the Bing photo, not even Azure buildings. I have free "We love VFR" from the "and pay "Bijan 4 seasons" - other "gold stars" of you are working fine.

1. Tübingen Castle 48.519402, 9.050118
2. Ochsenhausen Monastery 48.064287, 9.950216
3. Weingarten Basilica 47.808968, 9.644726
4. Bürgeln Castle 47.750157, 7.677651

whats going on, please advice.

RF

PS: now that I'm at it - some suggestions for an upgrade - prominent VFR-beacons,

- Schönberg Tower 48.44133, 9.227872, very special shape: free 3D model: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model/ ... hose?hl=de

- Bussen Hill Church 48.161657, 9.554604

- Zwiefalten Monastery 48.232, 9.461207

- Sigmaringen and Danube Gorge Castles 48.087585, 9.215808

- hint: your Phillipsburg Nuclear Powerplant cooling towers have been blown up recently - its unfortunate as they could be seen for miles...
