First all all thanks for Durban, I think it is the best FSDG scenery so far !

Are you planning to add SODE VDGS support for Durban and also Cape Town ? The casings for the VDGS systems seem to be in place already.

Thank you for considering SODE VDGS. Much appreciated. Would you expand your consideration also to FACT, GMMN, FIMP and others?
It would render your excellent sceneries even better.

Thank you for Durban, Cape Town, Casablanca and all your other sceneries. I own most of them
Looking forward to the next

Cheers

Like the windsocks, the biggest piece of work is creating the actual SODE content. Placing them in our sceneries is something that can be done very quickly in the end. But our focus at the moment is updating our sceneries to P3Dv5, converting more to XPlane and work on the already announced projects.

Maybe adding VDGS is not that much work, as the number of gates in your airports is not that huge. As you probably know the LAT/LON/Alt/HDG of your VDGS casings already, the remaining entries are quite obvious. You have to decide for the type of VDGS (e.g. SAFEDOCK T2), a capture distance and the Aircraft distances could be taken from other examples. If done for one gate, it s probably easy to copy to other gates.
Like this ..

-<Stand AfcadParkingNumber="XXX" AfcadGateName="GATE" AfcadICAO="ICAO">
<!-- StandLocation;49.462435333;-0.4646353535;229.797802734375;35.0-->
-<SimObject Name="VDGS GATE XXX">
<Placement Hdg="229.8" Alt="42.30123497899998#AGL" Lon="-0.4646353535" Lat="49.462435333"/>
-<Model StaticSimTitle="12bPilot_SODE_SafeDockT2_Static" SimTitle="12bPilot_SODE_SafeDockT2">
-<VDGS LateralOffset="-0.16" CaptureDistance="45.0" DistanceUnit="M">
<Stop AircraftTypes="ALL_SMALL; ALL_REGIONAL" Distance="27.4"/>
<Stop AircraftTypes="A320" Distance="22.2"/>
<Stop AircraftTypes="AIRBUS_LARGE" Distance="19.2"/>
<Stop AircraftTypes="BOEING_LARGE" Distance="18.1"/>
</VDGS>
</Model>
</SimObject>
</Stand>

Thanks for your reply Thorsten. Well understood that your focus at the moment is on the updates and the announced projects. But if you find some time to implement SODE VDGS I would be grateful. And I guess not only me.

On the other hand, as Mike already mentioned, LAT/LON/Alt/HDG of the VDGS casings is already in the scenery and only the stop aircrafts distances need to be set. I think Mike is right that stop distances could be transferred from gate to gate in some cases. The placer is a nice tool
What VDGS system is used in DUR?

It's not as easy as that, as we would have to remove the static Safegate models and make sure the SODE Safegates fit to the position of the poles and installations. The current SODE VDGS modules are not working with our scenery the way we expected - we're looking into it, but I doubt we will release Safegates for our sceneries before the next SODE update arrives.

SODE VDGS has been updated, did it fix what you were waiting for?
