Mauritius night light Way too bright

Post by lucikam » Sat Sep 16, 2017 3:13 pm

Hello,

Wondering if there is a way to reduce the brightness of the night lighting at Mauritius Plaisance Airport (FIMP) in P3Dv4 as it is way too bright. I already disabled the apron lights which reduced FPS significantly. So at the moment I have dynamic lights only without the 3D apron lights but it's so bright white that it's hard to actually see that jetways themselves or the white fuselage of the aircraft. Is there a way to deactivate some .bgl files to reduce this harsh brightness?

If you use dynamic lights please check if the LL_30.bgl is disabled.
P3D renders the scene depending on the overall brightness/contrast like the human eye does. If you look at the ground the bright lights will be dimmed. You can change the brightness level in the P3D graphics settings.

The LL_30.bgl is indeed off. As for changing the brightness within P3D is not an option since it changes the overall brightness of the entire simulation, not only that of the rendered dynamic lights. Since no other scenery products (and there is quite a few) seem to have such an unrealistic, harsh brightness I dare to say it's something related solely to your FIMP scenery. Please kindly make an optional, half-as-bright lighting setup as this particular one makes the airport pretty much "unenjoyable" during the hours of darkness.

You an always turn off dynamic lights if those seem too bright for you.

Disabling such a function is not a solution, but a compromise. I am looking for a solution.

If you want to dim the dynamic lights you can edit the fx file in the effects folder (FSDG_DynamicLight_02.fx).

Code: Select all

Color End=255, 255, 245, 80
This is an RGB value with the 4th value being overall brightness, so if you reduce that from 80 to 40 the light has 50% brightness.
