FALE: Possible error in scenery files.

Post by Peter Webber » Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:51 am

Good day. I use RAAS from FS2 Crew to identify approaching runways, and I have confirmed with their developer their program reads the scenery files of the airport in use at the time. With FSDG FALE, RAAS calls out the opposite runways, i.e when approaching RWY06, it calls out RWY24 and vice-versa. I have reproduced this numerous times and only happens with FSDG FALE. Could there be a possible error in the scenery files? I'm not an expert on how airports are compiled, so just guessing. Regards.

Thanks for pointing that out, it was indeed a bug in the file. Please use the attached file (you need to remove the _v2 from the filename if you use it for the FSX or P3Dv4 version).

Thanks for the "4 Star" service. (I will give "5 Stars" when FAOR is released!). :D

Hi,

I just landed at FALE, in P3D v5.
I used the attached file too 1 of the posts further up.
ILS 06 was only showing the Locolizer signal, the Glideslope signal is missing.

Only thing installed is ORBX with Africa Landclass.

I just checked the scenery with ADE v1.79 and clearly can see only LOC present and the Glideslopes are missing, I indicated with red squares.

Also check your ILS /RWY naming, you call both LOC / RWY 24 instead or RWY/ LOC 24 and RWY / LOC 06
Also both runways are ILS CAT II capable.

Another thing I just noticed, P3D v5, the runway start points are reversed.
Select FALE Location 6 and it places you on the Threshold start point of RWY 24

Awesome Thorsten.

I fixed it for myself, but am sure customers would appreciate this being fixed.

Also noticed to missing glideslopes at FALE using P3DV5

Something I also noticed in P3DV5 is that the highway just east of the airport is very bright (almost pure white). Not sure if this is a setting I can change in P3D but I have not seen this anywhere else.

Great work on both FACT and FALE, looking forward to other releases in South Africa.

Yes, this issue has been carried over to the P3D v5 version of FALE. I reported this previously. Maybe will be fixed in an update.

Hi,

Any news regarding the fix for missing glideslopes? Still not possible doing complete ILS approach to FALE.

Thank you

Dan
