Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Bought the scenery from Simmarket yesterday and it definately looks great in MSFS. However, here's some feedback.
- more POIs and resorts should have been modelled (currently very generic). Seems like a lot of the resorts from the FSX/P3D version are missing?
- should have been more attention to small details like rocks on the beaches and coastlines etc (eg Maps2Xplane Seychelles for X-plane)
- several glitches like flooded coastlines, mesh issues near the coastline/beach and other artifacts (one example are bricks on the airstrip at Fregate) which gives the impression of a beta version
- would love to see more custom autogen buildings
- several areas lack vegetation where it's clearly vegetation in real life (screenshots coming)
- make coral reefs stand more out in several areas
- coral reefs in the MSFS version is only stretching out what seems to be like 40 meters off the coastline, unlike the FSX/P3D version which had big areas with stunning reefs (water masking issue?)
- animated wildlife? Haven't seen this yet.
- AI ships are cool, but they seem stationary?
- poor blending of beaches into the ocean in several places
This is what I've discovered after a couple of quick flights around the islands. I hope to see some improvements to the scenery and bugs fixed, given the pricepoint of 30 euros. It's very good, but it could have been so much better with more attention to details. I really love this area and can't wait to explore it further after the release of Aerosoft's Twin Otter. But, there's a lot of room for improvement.
Will be adding some screenshots later as an example to show what I mean.

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
As promised, here's some screenshots to illustrate what I meant in the first post. This is post 1 of 2 due to many pictures.
Huge area with no autogen trees.
Another example of missing autogen, or should we say poor autogen variation. Also, the darkgreen layer under the airport doesn’t look good at all and also doesn't blend well into the scenery.
Another example of patches with no autogen trees. Also the darkgreen layer under the runway looks weird.
The ocean here is quite stunning with green coral reefs. The old FSX/P3D version had it, but not in the MSFS version.
Some coastline issues north-west of the airport at Praslin. Discovered quite a few of these. Also some mesh issues as you can see. Keeps flickering when you fly past.
Another example. Praslin.
Autogen trees on the beach. Flooded in water. Also Praslin, but can be seen in other places as well.

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
The coral reefs used to be quite stunning here in the FSX/P3D version. Here it’s completely missing.
This island among others has no autogen trees at all.
More close up. Also notice some issues with the coastline surrounding the island.
Same as above from a different angle.
This island has trees in the water, and the entire island looks flooded. Located off the coast of Praslin towards La Digue.
Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Hope this illustrates the issues in the current build. Honestly this is for the most part sloppy work by the beta testers. Most of these issues took me 10 minutes to discover. That being said, this is a brilliant scenery and I sincerely hope for an update that fixes the current issues along with some improvements, given the pricepoint of 30 euros which is a bit stiff for the scenery in it's current state. Some more attention to details would have been very welcome. Like more modelled resorts, POIs, hotels, rocks/cliffs on beaches and coastlines etc. A good example is Maps2Xplane Seychelles. They've done a great job. But the graphics in XP doesn't even come close to what we have in MSFS :P
Now I'm going to explore the Seychelles further. Hopefully soon in a Twin Otter from Aerosoft

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Thanks for the feedback, I've been on the fence about buying the scene but this confirms I'd better wait.
The biggest issue for me is the state of "water masks" / reefs, which are crucial in making an island look like an island.
Looking at videos of the scene, they look mostly absent or extremely muted.
The watermasks of the base game look stunning and I definitely expect this for an island scenery, you can see examples in this thread: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/le ... 321040/171

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Yes, watermasks are important for a place like the Seychelles. I can still recommend the scenery, but in it's current state it feels like a beta. I also have a feeling it's a dirty conversion from the FSX/P3D version, but with watermasking lacking in several areas. I hope this along with other issues and suggestions for improvements are being considered in a future update. This scenery could really be outstanding with some more work. After all it's a 30 euro product.
I could do more free "beta testing", but only if the developers are interested in improving the scenery. So far they haven't replied to this thread.

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
MSFS currently does not allow to change water class / water definitions. As far as I know, no other addon scenery includes any kind of watermarks / reefs. Those you know (like Grenadines) just use the default "water masks" in that area.
We had to use quite a few tricks to create realistic water masks for Mauritius and Seychelles. In the future, it will probably be as easy to create custom aerial imagery for water areas as it was in FSX/P3D, but currently that is not the case.
Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
We should probably take this to Asobo to work out a solution. Maybe they're already aware?horst18519 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 11:38 amMSFS currently does not allow to change water class / water definitions. They certainly are. But they can only add one feature after the other, and currently, they're more focused on adding default stuff than adding options for developers.
Like I said: We're the only ones who were able to still add water masks. We'll look at Praslin again and try to add them for that island as well.

Sounds very good. Hope there will be a solution in the near future regarding water mask.horst18519 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 6:43 pmThey certainly are. But they can only add one feature after the other, and currently, they're more focused on adding default stuff than adding options for developers.

Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
If you download the new v1.2 version, most of the items listed above should be fixed.
Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Thanks for the heads up. Will check the new 1.2 version and report back. Thanks!
Re: Some feedback regarding Seychelles for MSFS
Just checked and downloaded again from simmarket. It still says 1.1 so I guess simmarket haven't updated their installers yet. By the way, a changelog would be nice ;)
