I didn't realize the construction of the new terminal takes that long. But due to the virus, a visit wouldn't be possible anyway in the next months.
It Is Expected to Be Completed By 2022. Early Stages Began Laying The Foundation of The Terminal, As Per It Says:
The foundation work of the new passenger terminal being constructed at Velana International Airport (VIA) has been completed. The new passenger terminal is developed at the south of the current international terminal over an area of 78,000 square metres. The current terminal was designed to serve 1 million passengers while the new terminal will have the capacity to serve 7.3 million passengers. Expected completion time of the new terminal is by May, 2022.
There is no news from us regarding our upcoming Maldives scenery. The information posted above is not from us - and I frankly do not know if it's supposed to promote a scenery from another developer or if it should help us develop our version.
I'm tempted to close this thread.

It should help us develop our version. Meanwhile, I got some good news:
New International Passenger Terminal is well in progress. MACL is hopeful that the project will be completed as per schedule by mid 2022.
Hello all! I flew into Male a few days ago. Seems as though not much has changed since the most recent image post. There is a second apron on the south-east side of the airfield (just below the seaplane base) that is used to park aircraft and free up stands, although I’m sure that has been there for a while. I have linked the full video of the landing below. The one thing that is difficult to tell is whether they intend to keep the old terminal and all the clutter near and around the domestic terminal. I can’t seem to find actual sketches or plans for the final layout. The recently built runway is not yet in service, with its southerly markers situated only a few metres from the seaplane terminal (rendering it unusable). Will they demolish the sea plane terminal and relocate it, reclaiming more land to the east? Seems like a mess right now. Aside from the completion of the new terminal, I imagine the stretch to the east of the new runway is the only area that we will see any change over the next few years.
