Sharm el-Sheikh 2012 [FSX/FS9] - Released

Post by horst18519 » Mon Apr 23, 2012 12:20 am

A beautiful early sun-day morning today in Egypt, so I decided to fetch the camera and take a picture. Hope you like it, it proves we were pretty busy lately.

Wow, Thorsten, you have made my day, mate!
A quality Sharm El Sheikh for MFS... Image

I promise to be the first customer for the FS9 version.
Even if it is not AESed on the fly (which would be a pity, of course).

Keep killing us with more screenshots, please.

Yes, that is our plan. Just like Djerba and most other FS97FSX addons, the surroundings (hotels,...) will not be included in the FS9 version though.

May I ask why? Is it too difficult to port?

Things like resample (photoreal terrain ground textures), autogen and everything concerning terrain modification is way more difficult/limited in FS9. You've got to give teams like ORBX credit they achieved a really good result in FS9, but of course their addons are all about terrain. This is an airport addon, the surrounding is just the icing on the (FSX-)cake, just like in Djerba.

Now that is bad news. On the one hand I understand your point. But on the other: why not?
I've got a lot of professional FS9 addon airports with detailed surrounding areas, examples being: LEPA, LEIB, LHBP, EYVI, EPKK, EPRZ, LOWI, just to mention some.
Mesh, photo ground, autogen, buildings, moving traffic on the roads, et cetera.
And I have no performance issues. And in case I do, I can always decactivate. At least I have a choice.

Nowadays a good scenery seems to be something more than just an airport.
A realistic approach environment adds A LOT to the simming immersion.
Not to mention the airports being alive with apron vehicles, AESlite or custom ones.

I hope you can change your mind, Thorsten, since that would really be a pity.
Maybe not half of Sinai in phototextures, but at least some hotels and other buildings on approach.

Anyway looking forward to HESH.
All the best,
Rafal Haczek

I have to agree with Rafal here... The surroundings help to create an atmosphere around the airport.

Hi Moshe,

What do you mean exactly 'for existing customers' ?

This is a totally new project, unrelated to other FSDG products.

Thanks. I guess I got confused FSDG with SDG (Sim Design Group) HESH product which I own.

HESH Tower. Just wanted to add that the terminal shown above is "Terminal 1", not 2.

Just a question Lars, I know you're from 29Palms Design.

Do you coorperate with the FSDG for developing this product?
Kind Regards
Frank
